Siding Painting in Burien, Washington for Prepared Exterior Surfaces

Siding painting focuses on the panels or boards that protect a property's exterior. This page helps buyers decide whether the siding needs cleaning, mildew removal, scraping, sanding, repairs, or primer before paint.

The key choice is preparation scope. A clean, sound surface may need less work, while peeling coatings or damaged siding require more attention before painting. We inspect the surface and explain which steps belong in the project agreement.

The service fits homeowners, landlords, property managers, and businesses seeking an exterior update. It does not replace carpentry when siding is broken, soft, or missing. Our team coordinates needed repairs before the paint work proceeds.

  • Check the siding for dirt, mildew, loose coatings, cracks, and damaged sections.
  • Confirm whether scraping and sanding are needed across the full surface or selected areas.
  • Discuss repairs, primer application, color choices, trim, doors, and other exterior elements.
  • Review the work scope and protected areas during the free consultation.

What Prepared Siding Changes for the Customer

A prepared surface gives primer and paint a better base.

Removing loose coatings helps the new finish follow the siding instead of weak old paint.

Mildew removal addresses a surface problem before fresh paint covers the area.

A written scope helps you understand which repairs and exterior surfaces are included.

Final inspection gives you a chance to review the completed work with the lead paint crew member.

Process

How We Prepare and Paint Exterior Siding

1

Review the property and siding

We meet with you to discuss goals, siding condition, access, repairs, trim, and the areas included in the project.

2

Clean the siding surface

Surface cleaning removes dirt and mildew that could interfere with the next coating steps.

3

Remove weak paint layers

Scraping lifts loose paint, and sanding smooths areas that need a sound base.

4

Coordinate siding repairs

We identify needed repairs and include them in the agreed scope before painting the affected surfaces.

5

Apply primer and paint

Primer goes on where needed, followed by paint on the siding surfaces covered by the project agreement.

6

Inspect the completed work

A lead paint crew member reviews the finished work with you before the project closes.

We had been putting off painting our house because there is never a great time to do so. After we decided to do it, we got 6 bids, some where very low, with low grade products, other very high with outrageous considerations, Jeff and his team came dead in the middle with amazing notes from the first visit, careful workmanship and with top of the line quality product. Scheduling was a breeze with Lorena make it so easy for us even with a busy schedule during the summer. The best experience we've had, we basically did not notice the team was working. They arrived every day super early, left the area pristine, and delivered a great quality outcome in the entire exterior job. We are super happy with the pain, the look and all the recommendation and fixes the team did. We will definitely work with 365Painting Solutions for all of our future painting needs. Thank you for making this experience simple and painless.

These guys did an awesome job! They have a well trained team that works closely together to get the job done on time and on budget. They also did a number of other repairs on the interior and exterior ( removed dry rot, repair drywall, etc.) before they could even start the painting. I would highly recommend them!

Questions Customers Ask About Siding Painting

How should siding be prepared before painting?

Surface cleaning should come first, followed by mildew removal, scraping, sanding, repairs, and primer when needed. We inspect the siding before choosing the preparation steps. Loose paint must be removed, and damaged areas need attention before the finish coat. Thomas J. Painting explains the planned sequence during the consultation and includes the agreed work in the project scope.

What part of the property changes the painting scope?

Siding condition changes the scope more than the color choice. Panels with mildew, loose coating, cracks, or damage need different preparation from sound siding. Trim, doors, access, and nearby protected areas also affect the agreement. Our assessment separates siding painting from carpentry repairs so you know which work is included.

Which repairs should happen before the siding is painted?

Broken, soft, missing, or badly damaged siding should be repaired before painting. Surface defects that affect the coating also need attention. We review the siding during the on-site assessment and coordinate necessary repairs as part of the project scope. Painting is not the right fix for a section that needs replacement.

When does siding need primer before exterior paint?

Primer is needed when the prepared siding requires a stable base for the finish coat. The existing coating, exposed material, repairs, and surface condition guide that choice. We apply primer where the agreed preparation plan calls for it. The consultation gives you a chance to discuss how those areas will be handled.

Why does fresh paint fail on some siding?

Fresh paint can fail when loose coating, mildew, dirt, or damaged siding remains underneath. We check those conditions before painting and remove weak material through the planned preparation steps. Sanding helps smooth selected areas, while repairs address damage that paint cannot correct. The final scope reflects what the siding needs.

How do I prepare my property before the crew arrives?

Property preparation starts with sharing access details and identifying objects near the siding. Move loose items away from exterior walls when possible, and tell us about doors, walkways, signs, or areas that need protection. We discuss the site during the consultation and protect surrounding work areas as part of the agreed project.
