How We Complete Deck Construction and Finish Work

1

Review the deck and project goals

We meet at the property, discuss how you use the space, and review the deck, stairs, railings, boards, framing, and nearby surfaces.

2

Set the repair and build scope

We identify carpentry repairs, construction needs, preparation work, and finish areas that belong in the project agreement.

3

Prepare and protect the work area

We coordinate repairs, prepare the surfaces, and protect nearby property before construction or painting begins.

4

Complete the agreed deck work

Our crew completes the planned carpentry, construction, exterior painting, or related finish work within the approved scope.

5

Inspect the completed project

We review the finished work with the lead paint crew member and complete cleanup around the work area.

When this service is the right fit

A homeowner may notice peeling coating beside a deck board that feels soft underfoot. We inspect the board, nearby framing, fasteners, and finish before discussing repair or replacement. The consultation then sets the work scope and identifies any construction details that need attention.

How We Approach Deck Construction

Inspection before finish work

We look at the deck parts and surrounding surfaces before setting the painting scope. This helps identify carpentry work that should happen first.

One agreement for the planned scope

The consultation covers your goals, the work area, repairs, preparation, and finish needs. We use those details to establish a clear project agreement.

A practical fit check

Deck building is not the right job for a project that only needs an indoor wall painted. We help define whether the request calls for deck construction, carpentry, exterior painting, or a combined scope.

What Our Deck Work Includes

  • We prepare wood and nearby areas for the planned work.
  • We protect surrounding property during construction, repair, and painting work.
  • We complete exterior painting or related finish work when the project scope calls for it.

What Better Deck Construction Changes

A defined scope helps you separate structural repairs from painting and finish work.

Careful surface preparation helps the selected coating adhere to the deck surface.

Coordinated carpentry and painting reduce the need to manage separate project scopes.

A final inspection gives you a clear point to review completed work.

These guys did an awesome job! They have a well trained team that works closely together to get the job done on time and on budget. They also did a number of other repairs on the interior and exterior ( removed dry rot, repair drywall, etc.) before they could even start the painting. I would highly recommend them!

The team at 365 did a great job painting our house. They painted the full exterior of our house, including all the trim, front door, and garage doors. Their color matching was spot on, and the front door and porch trim finish is perfectly smooth. They even did a nice job with caulking as well.

Questions About Deck Construction and Repairs

Who provides deck builder services for this property?

Thomas J. Painting provides deck builder services for residential and commercial properties. Our work may include deck construction, carpentry repairs, surface preparation, and exterior painting. We begin with a consultation and in-home meeting, then establish the project scope before work starts. The service fits outdoor projects that need coordinated repair and finish work.

What does the first deck inspection cover?

The first deck inspection covers the boards, framing, stairs, railings, fasteners, trim, and visible finish damage. We also review nearby surfaces that need protection during the work. The inspection helps separate carpentry needs from painting or refinishing needs. We explain the findings during the consultation and use them to shape the project agreement.

How does the deck condition change the estimate?

Deck condition changes the estimate through repair needs, preparation work, replacement areas, access, and finish requirements. Loose boards, damaged framing, peeling coating, and worn stairs can each change the work scope. We review those conditions on site and provide a free estimate after discussing the work with you.

When should I request deck repairs before painting?

Deck repairs should come before painting when boards, framing, stairs, railings, or trim show damage or movement. Paint cannot correct a structural or carpentry problem. We inspect the affected areas, coordinate necessary repairs, and prepare the remaining surfaces for the finish work included in the agreement.

Which details should I share before the consultation?

Your goals, deck use, known damage, access limits, and desired finish help shape the first discussion. Photos can also show peeling coating, damaged boards, stairs, or rail sections before the visit. We still review the property in person, because visible conditions and surrounding surfaces affect the final scope.

Why can a deck need both carpentry and painting?

A deck can need both services when damaged or worn wood must be repaired before the finish is applied. Carpentry addresses boards, trim, stairs, railings, or other wood parts, while painting covers preparation and coating work. We coordinate these tasks so the agreement reflects the full outdoor project.
