Quick Summary: Cabinet Refinishing in Burien, Washington

Cabinet Painting in Burien is provided by Thomas J. Painting for residential and commercial properties. The service covers surface preparation, cabinet painting, refacing, and a final inspection, with free consultations available.

  • What we do: Thomas J. Painting provides Cabinet Painting for residential and commercial properties in Burien, Washington.
  • What is included: Surface preparation, cabinet painting, cabinet refacing, carpentry coordination, protected work areas, and final inspection.
  • What you get: Cabinet doors and cabinet boxes receive a prepared, painted finish that matches the agreed project scope.

Why do painted cabinets peel after preparation?

Grease or cleaner residue can block paint adhesion, even when the surface looks clean. Degreasing removes surface contamination before scuff sanding and primer. Damaged veneer, loose edges, and swollen wood also need attention before paint. Thomas J. Painting checks these conditions during the consultation and explains whether painting, refacing, or carpentry work fits the cabinets.

Cabinet Painting in Burien for Existing Kitchens and Work Areas

Cabinet painting suits property owners who want to refresh existing doors and cabinet boxes without changing the room layout. The work focuses on cleaning, adhesion, surface repair, coating, and careful cleanup.

The key decision is the condition of the cabinet material. Solid surfaces with sound edges may suit painting, while swollen fiberboard, loose veneer, or damaged panels may call for refacing or carpentry first.

A consultation gives us time to discuss color, sheen, access, repairs, and the areas that need protection. We then set a clear project agreement before work begins.

  • Check cabinet doors, boxes, edges, hardware areas, and existing coatings.
  • Identify grease, wax, chipped paint, loose veneer, and swollen material.
  • Confirm which doors, drawers, panels, and trim are included.
  • Decide whether repairs or refacing should happen before painting.
  • Plan protection for counters, floors, appliances, and nearby surfaces.

What Prepared Cabinet Surfaces Change

Clean, keyed surfaces give primer a better base for the painted coating.

Repairing small defects before paint helps the finished surface look more even.

Door removal gives the crew better access to edges, faces, and hardware areas.

A written scope helps you see which cabinet parts receive paint and which need repair.

Careful preparation can help prevent adhesion problems caused by grease or residue.

How We Prepare and Paint Cabinet Surfaces

1

Review the cabinet condition

We inspect doors, drawers, boxes, edges, veneer, old coatings, and areas near handles before setting the scope.

2

Remove doors and protect nearby areas

We label and remove cabinet doors when the plan calls for it, then protect counters, floors, appliances, and nearby surfaces.

3

Clean and prepare the surfaces

We remove surface soil, address residue, scuff sand suitable coatings, and fill small defects that need repair.

4

Apply bonding primer

We apply bonding primer to prepared surfaces when the material and existing coating call for added adhesion.

5

Paint and inspect the work

We paint the agreed cabinet parts, reinstall removed pieces as planned, and complete a final inspection with the lead paint crew member.

How We Approach Cabinet Painting

Surface condition guides the plan

Cabinet material, old coating, veneer, and damage guide the work plan. Free consultations let us review the job before setting the scope.

Preparation comes before appearance

Paint cannot hide loose veneer, swollen fiberboard, or weak edges for long. We identify those conditions and explain repair or refacing needs before coating.

Painting is not always the right service

Cabinets with major water damage, failing structure, or badly damaged panels may need replacement or carpentry work instead of paint alone.

Choosing Paint, Refacing, or Carpentry

The cabinet condition helps determine which service best fits the work.

365 Painting Solutions did an excellent job on painting the entire interior of our house. The whole crew is so helpful and the process was so easy. We can't say enough about how thrilled we are with the end result. Jeff and Lorena did a great job helping us pick the perfect color! Efrain and the crew were a pleasure to have in the house and the careful workmanship was amazing.

These guys did an awesome job! They have a well trained team that works closely together to get the job done on time and on budget. They also did a number of other repairs on the interior and exterior ( removed dry rot, repair drywall, etc.) before they could even start the painting. I would highly recommend them!

We had been putting off painting our house because there is never a great time to do so. After we decided to do it, we got 6 bids, some where very low, with low grade products, other very high with outrageous considerations, Jeff and his team came dead in the middle with amazing notes from the first visit, careful workmanship and with top of the line quality product. Scheduling was a breeze with Lorena make it so easy for us even with a busy schedule during the summer. The best experience we've had, we basically did not notice the team was working. They arrived every day super early, left the area pristine, and delivered a great quality outcome in the entire exterior job. We are super happy with the pain, the look and all the recommendation and fixes the team did. We will definitely work with 365Painting Solutions for all of our future painting needs. Thank you for making this experience simple and painless.

Questions About Cabinet Preparation and Painting

How should cabinets be prepared for a durable painted finish?

Degreasing should come first, followed by surface checks, scuff sanding, repairs, and bonding primer. Cabinet doors and drawers may need removal for better access. Wood filler can address small dents and holes, but swollen material or loose veneer may need refacing or carpentry. Thomas J. Painting reviews these conditions during a free consultation before setting the painting scope.

What should I clear before the cabinet consultation?

The consultation needs clear access to cabinet doors, drawers, boxes, and nearby work areas. Remove loose items from counters and cabinets so surfaces and hardware areas are easy to review. Photos can help, but an in-home meeting gives us better information about access, damage, protection, and the parts you want included.

Which cabinet parts change the estimate?

Cabinet quantity, material condition, door removal, repairs, and the surfaces included change the estimate. Doors, drawer fronts, boxes, end panels, trim, and hardware areas may need different preparation. A free consultation lets us review those parts together. We then explain the scope and provide an estimate for the agreed work.

When is painting the wrong choice for cabinets?

Painting is the wrong fit when cabinet material has major swelling, failing structure, or widespread loose veneer. Refacing or carpentry may suit those conditions better. We inspect the visible damage and discuss the available scope during the consultation. That review helps you decide whether paint alone can address the cabinet problem.

Why does primer matter after sanding?

Bonding primer helps the new coating adhere to a properly cleaned and prepared cabinet surface. Sanding alone does not address every material or coating concern. We check the existing finish, surface condition, and repair areas before choosing the preparation steps. The final plan identifies where primer belongs in the work.
